Woo-hoo low water is here! It’s a whopping 650 CFS today in Browns Canyon – who wants to get stuck on some rocks?!
July was super busy at AAE and I’ve almost made it to 500 commercial river miles. Now it is starting to slow down a little bit and I’m getting time to explore all of the fun activities to do off the Arkansas river. AAE partners with several other adventure companies in the valley so us raft guides get to do some super cool activities for free (don’t forget to tip…) We’ve gone horseback riding along the Collegiate Peaks, ATVing in Big Horn Sheep Canyon, and checked out two of the hot springs by BV.
Chaffee County is known as 14er county, so naturally I had to hike a 14,000 ft. mountain, too!
I’ve also kept busy with all of my fabulous visitors that have come to the valley. Taking my big brother and sister-in-law and friends down the river was an absolute blast!! Even when big, strong Jack and Larson got scared in Widow Maker rapid and stopped paddling…
My two best friends from UW also visited and we had quite a sporty time R3-ing down Browns.
The summer is starting to wind down and now I have to figure out what to do for the winter season… I’m leaning toward Hawaii or the Virgin Islands to follow warm weather. Let me know if you have any advice or tips on traveling down south for the winter!
